We’ve taken 20 empty shops in a 1930s market arcade in Brixton and created a rolling festival of pop-up performances and exhibitions, new shops, cafes and weekend events.

Brixton Village

In October 2009, SMA took on a project to breathe life into Brixton Village — a 1930s arcade-style market in the heart of Brixton. We ran a competition offering three month rent-free occupancies — and the first wave of winning projects are now open in the market.
Nomadic Infrastructure

A collaboration to map the physical and social infrastructure needs of temporary-occupancy projects, developing designs and prototypes for mobile, modular units to facilitate the use of otherwise unfit spaces – as well as social toolkits for running effective temporary space projects.
Forgotten Spaces (with RIBA London)

In February 2010, Space Makers Agency announced a partnership with RIBA London to create an online platform and a series of events around the Forgotten Spaces design competition.
